Carmen-Passionate Love

Premiering in 2008, 'Carmen-Passionate Love' is the first musical produced using only Chinese resources and talent. Based on George Bizet's famous 'Carmen', this more contemporary interpretation features compositions from the original such as Toreador, Rosen Aries and Habanera, in addition to Jazz, Pop, traditional Chinese and Classical music.

Storyline

Feihong Liu is mysterious, sexy and successful. She has everything that modern-day individuals yearn for: money, success and countless admirers. She is one of the most successful directors of her time and hailed as the ‘queen of movies’. Behind the glamour however, Feihong Liu is sad, lonely and full of vengeance. Betrayed by the man she loved, Feihong Liu decides to get revenge by directing ‘Carmen-Passionate Love’. Through her protagonist Huji, a contemporary Carmen, she fights for her freedom and seeks to teach a lesson to the one who has abandoned her. But what happens when emotions run wild and things spin out of control? What happens when romance unfolds into tragedy? A story full of passion, love, mystery and power.
